Family member asserts 18-year-old's character amid serious allegations |
Vicki Perry is grappling with the shocking news of her nephew's involvement in a high-speed police chase spanning from Fort Lauderdale to Pompano Beach.
On Thursday afternoon, authorities allege that 18-year-old Lamar Perry, along with 30-year-old Tracy Ross and 18-year-old Timothy Brown, abducted a 21-year-old man from a McDonald's in Davie.
According to police reports, the suspects took the victim's phone and coerced him into their vehicle, later assaulting him before he managed to escape and contact law enforcement.
The pursuit concluded dramatically in Pompano Beach, where the suspects' SUV collided with a light pole near a local restaurant.
During the chase, Vicki Perry received a distressing FaceTime call from her nephew.
"He called me crying, saying, 'Auntie, we're on a high-speed chase,'" she recounted.
Despite the serious charges, she maintains that Lamar is a kind-hearted individual who succumbed to peer pressure.
"Please, he's not a bad kid—he's not," she emphasized.
All three adults are currently held without bond, while two juveniles involved are in custody at the juvenile assessment center in Fort Lauderdale.
Vicki Perry remains committed to supporting her nephew through the legal proceedings.
"I'm upset, but I'm worried," she expressed.
"And I thank God, but it could have been worse." |
