Demolition Begins at Festival Marketplace in Pompano Beach

Iconic shopping destination makes way for new industrial development

Demolition crews have commenced work at the former Festival Marketplace, located at 2900 W. Sample Road in Pompano Beach.

This marks the end of an era for the beloved shopping hub that served the community for nearly four decades.

The marketplace, which closed its doors on May 31, 2025, was home to over 250 small vendors offering a diverse range of products, from clothing and electronics to unique international foods.

The closure was prompted by a zoning change approved by the city in 2022, allowing for the development of warehouse facilities on the site.

Foundry Commercial, in partnership with Wheelock Street Capital, has acquired the 25-acre property and plans to transform it into Festival Logistics Park, a 474,000-square-foot industrial development.

The project will feature three state-of-the-art buildings ranging from 60,000 to 300,000 square feet, designed to accommodate small to medium-sized tenants.

The facilities will include 32 to 36-foot clear heights, ESFR sprinkler systems, and ample parking.

Two of the buildings will front Sample Road, offering significant visibility for future tenants.

Demolition of existing structures and initial construction are slated to begin in the fourth quarter of 2025, with completion expected by the end of 2026.

The redevelopment is anticipated to create new job opportunities and contribute positively to the local economy.

While the transformation signifies progress, many in the community reflect on the loss of a cherished landmark.

The Festival Marketplace was more than just a shopping center; it was a gathering place that fostered personal relationships between vendors and customers.

As the site evolves, the community looks forward to the new opportunities that Festival Logistics Park will bring to Pompano Beach.
