Mother Seeks Justice After Video Shows BSO Deputy Kicking Son During Arrest |
Incident in Pompano Beach Sparks Outrage and Calls for Accountability |
A Pompano Beach mother is demanding justice after a video surfaced showing her son, Jeremyah Taylor, being kicked multiple times by a Broward Sheriff's Office (BSO) deputy during an arrest.
The incident occurred on January 13, 2026, when deputies responded to a shooting near Blanche Ely High School. Taylor, 22, approached the scene seeking information about his uncle, who was later arrested in connection with the shooting.
In the video, Taylor is seen on the ground, restrained by several deputies. One deputy, armed with a long gun, repeatedly kicks and stomps on him. Taylor's mother, who wishes to remain anonymous, expressed her horror: "I was disgusted, I could barely see it. As a mother, it was like, 'who would want to see that?'"
BSO stated that Taylor was shouting and ignoring commands to back away from the scene. They allege he resisted arrest and grabbed a deputy's foot during the struggle. Taylor was charged with battery on an officer and resisting arrest. After posting bond, he sought medical attention for injuries, including headaches, facial bruising, and scratches.
BSO has initiated an internal investigation. Their statement reads: "An initial administrative review is being conducted... This case will subsequently be examined by the Use of Force Review Board."
Taylor's mother remains steadfast: "I want answers. I want that deputy to be held accountable."
This incident has ignited community outrage, with many questioning the use of force by law enforcement in Pompano Beach. The community awaits the outcome of BSO's internal review. |
