Northbound I-95 Reopens After Car Fire Near Copans Road in Pompano Beach

Traffic resumes following vehicle blaze; no injuries reported

A dramatic vehicle fire temporarily shut down northbound lanes of Interstate 95 near Copans Road in Pompano Beach on Friday afternoon.

The incident occurred just after 1:30 p.m., when a car erupted into flames, sending plumes of smoke into the sky. Traffic cameras captured the intense blaze, with at least three vehicles navigating through the fiery scene.

Emergency crews responded swiftly, extinguishing the fire shortly thereafter. Remarkably, no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

This incident is part of a series of recent disruptions on I-95 in the Pompano Beach area. In December 2024, a deadly crash involving multiple vehicles led to significant closures. Additionally, in August 2024, a jackknifed tractor-trailer caused lane closures near the same vicinity.

Motorists are advised to stay informed about traffic conditions and exercise caution when traveling through this stretch of I-95.
