City Recognizes Postal Service's Vital Role in Community |
Pompano Beach, Florida, has officially recognized the 250th anniversary of the United States Postal Service (USPS) with a proclamation signed by Mayor Rex Hardin.
This initiative was spearheaded by Gustavo Aguilar, Clerk Craft Director of the Broward County Area Local.
Aguilar reached out to the Mayor's Office via email and received a positive response within days.
By November 6, the proclamation was secured, highlighting the USPS's enduring commitment to serving homes and businesses in this vibrant coastal city.
To commemorate the occasion, the local union organized an event where members gathered to celebrate their contributions as postal workers and union members.
Aguilar emphasized the city's acknowledgment of postal workers as an essential part of the civic infrastructure, supporting small businesses, facilitating government services, and enhancing the community's quality of life and economic vitality.
He also noted the dedication of USPS employees, past and present, in ensuring reliable communication networks across the nation.
In addition to the proclamation, Aguilar, a graduate of the APWU’s Leadership Institute, created a handout detailing the process and providing a checklist for other members interested in securing similar proclamations in Broward County.
This effort underscores the importance of recognizing and celebrating the public mission of the USPS in communities nationwide. |
