Pompano Beach's New City Hall: A Beacon of Progress and Community Pride |
A Modern Civic Center Designed to Reflect Transparency, Efficiency, and Community Values |
Pompano Beach is embarking on a transformative journey with the construction of its new City Hall and accompanying parking deck, marking a significant investment in the city's civic identity and infrastructure.
Envisioned as a functional hub for municipal operations and a welcoming public landmark, the project seamlessly integrates modern architectural principles with sustainability, accessibility, and long-term growth considerations.
The City Hall is set to become the heart of civic engagement, while the parking deck will provide convenient support for visitors, staff, and downtown activities, together forming a cohesive civic campus that embodies the city's values of transparency, efficiency, and community pride.
The proposed City Hall will be a four-story, approximately 116,000-square-foot building constructed with either concrete or steel.
Its façade will feature curtain walls, window walls, precast concrete, and metal panels, with LED lighting incorporated to enhance its modern aesthetic.
A two-story lobby will welcome the public, complete with a security desk at the entrance.
While the building will incorporate sustainable design and energy-efficient principles to meet all energy code requirements, it will not pursue LEED certification.
Complementing the City Hall, the parking deck is designed as a seven-story precast structure offering approximately 600 parking spaces.
All parking will be above grade with open ventilation on each level.
The exterior elevations will include decorative panels that harmonize with the City Hall design, enhancing the overall aesthetic of the civic campus.
Strategically located at the northwest corner of Atlantic Boulevard and Dixie Highway, the City Hall and parking deck will have direct access off Dixie Highway.
A covered walkway at ground level will connect the two structures, opening to a landscaped plaza between them.
This plaza will feature native species, hardscape elements, benches, and artwork, creating an inviting space for community gatherings.
Inside, the public spaces of the City Hall will be designed with durable, easy-to-maintain materials.
These may include resilient wall surfaces, quality flooring, and specialty lighting and artwork.
Open work areas and private offices will incorporate a variety of materials such as carpet, tile, painted drywall, exposed painted ceilings, acoustic ceiling tiles, and glass or alternative office fronts.
The commission chamber will feature acoustical wall and ceiling panels, seating, and audio/visual equipment to facilitate effective governance.
In November 2025, the Pompano Beach City Commission approved up to $137 million in long-term financing for the construction of the new City Hall and parking garage, a centerpiece of the city's ongoing downtown redevelopment.
This financing plan is expected to save the city approximately $4 million annually and up to $100 million over a 30-year period.
The new City Hall is part of a broader $2 billion downtown redevelopment plan, which includes 4.2 million square feet of new office space, retail shops, residential offerings, and public areas.
The project is anticipated to generate $42 million in tax revenue and over a billion dollars in economic impact each year.
Construction of the new City Hall is expected to begin in 2025, with occupancy projected by 2028.
This development signifies a bold step forward for Pompano Beach, reflecting the city's commitment to growth, modernization, and community engagement. |
