At 92 years old, Muriel Connick keeps working at a Pompano Beach clothing store, as her Social Security doesn't cover essential expenses.
Her story took a turn when April Steele, a local shopper, noticed Connick’s steadfast presence in the dressing room and felt compelled to help.
Steele shared Connick’s situation in a community Facebook group and launched a GoFundMe, which quickly gained momentum.
In just a few weeks, over $5,000 was raised by caring neighbors determined to ease Connick’s financial burden and help with repairs to her mobile home.
The overwhelming response has left Connick feeling both grateful and surprised, as she expressed deep appreciation for the generosity of strangers.

The vehicle hit the right barrier wall before crashing into a ditch, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The driver was taken to North Broward Medical Center and later pronounced dead.
A following motorist told investigators the truck left the roadway for no clear reason, leading authorities to consider if a medical emergency was involved.

Saveur Tropical Restaurant in Pompano Beach was shut down by health inspectors after three dead rodents were discovered inside a reach-in cooler during a follow-up inspection.
Fresh rodent droppings and several sanitation violations added to serious concerns about food safety at the location.
This marks the third closure for the restaurant due to pest issues, following prior shutdowns for rodents last May and a roach problem in October.
Inspectors also identified expired licensing and live roaches at the food prep station.
After correcting the problems, the business was allowed to reopen, though repeated health violations continue to raise doubts about overall cleanliness.
On the same day, Charley's Philly Steaks at Broward Mall was closed due to similar pest issues but has since resolved the violations.
The incidents highlight ongoing health and safety concerns at local eateries. Read More... |
