One resident in Pompano Beach landed a life-changing Cash4Life win, guaranteeing $1,000 a week for life after purchasing their lucky ticket at the Marathon gas station on North Federal Highway.
Over in Plantation, another player scooped up a hefty $110,305 Fantasy 5 jackpot from a ticket bought at the 7-Eleven on North State Road 7.

Pompano Beach is considering cutting ties with the Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) to create its own municipal police department.
Residents have voiced concerns about rising costs and delayed response times, sharing personal stories and frustrations at recent meetings.
City spending on BSO is set to jump from $53 million in 2022 to a proposed $72.8 million by 2026, which includes funding for 28 new positions.
Mayor Rex Hardin praised BSO’s work but cited increasing financial strain.
The city has now hired a consulting firm to study the feasibility and expense of launching an independent police force.
Commissioner Audrey Fesik emphasized the study’s importance as Pompano Beach follows other Broward cities, like Deerfield Beach and Pembroke Park, in examining alternatives.

Demolition has begun at the former Festival Marketplace on W. Sample Road in Pompano Beach, closing the chapter on a beloved shopping hub that served the community for nearly forty years.
The market, home to 250 small vendors, closed on May 31, 2025, following a zoning change that paved the way for warehouse development.
Foundry Commercial and Wheelock Street Capital plan to transform the 25-acre site into Festival Logistics Park, featuring three modern industrial buildings with advanced amenities and flexible spaces for small and medium businesses.
Visible from Sample Road, the new facilities will offer clear heights up to 36 feet and enhanced safety features, with construction starting late 2025 and projected completion by the end of 2026.
